Unleash Your “ICONIC” Rebel With HANABIE. Demanding Respect

Pick up this call to your brain’s central control—HANABIE. delivers a new banger! Last Friday, the Japanese metalcore quartet released their ICONIC music video on YouTube. They also urge you to join their rebellion to earn some serious respect.

In the video, the band mixes their Harajuku fashion with a crisp white style in a room devoid of feeling. They hint that in Japan’s strict culture, sometimes you need to shout a rebellious “Bleah!” If daily routines have you feeling stuck, join the rebellion and become “ICONIC.”

Even with their wild, pink-haired style, HANABIE. is probably thankful for their success. They’ve quickly made a name for themselves in the metal scene since 2023. Their debut song, Pardon Me, I Have To Go Now [お先に失礼します。], went viral with over 11 million YouTube views. They’ve also played at big American festivals like Louder Than Life and Aftershock.

About HANABIE. [花冷え。]

A Japanese all-female metalcore band from Tokyo, formed in 2015 by high school friends. Currently, the lineup is Yukina (harsh and clean vocals), Matsuri (guitar and clean vocals), Hettsu (bass and backing vocals), and Chika (drums). Together, they blend aggressive metalcore, hardcore punk, and nu metal, drawing on influences from J-pop, electronica, and EDM, to create a genre they call “Harajuku-core.”

Harajuku-core is a unique new music style. It blends heavy riffs and screams with colorful Tokyo teen fashion and Gen-Z energy. HANABIE. first gained fans as an independent band. Then, in 2023, they signed with Epic Records Japan and released the album “Reborn Superstar!” Since then, they’ve found international success. In 2024, they became the first all-female Japanese band to play on Lollapalooza’s main stage.
