Japanese rock band East Of Eden returns with their evocative new single Our Fate. Released on October 2, the new single is the theme for the Tokyo drama We’ll Fix The Mess In Your Company! 2 [御社の乱れ正します!2] on the Japanese satellite broadcasting station BS-TBS.
While unfamiliarity with the drama series may limit context, the song itself stands out. The new single is energetic with whimsical flourishes and sonic hooks. Vocalist Akane Minato bursts in with her electrifying and powerful voice that instantly commands attention. Then, guitar riffs by Yuki slide into the mix before the beat explodes. The rhythm swells promptly, and listeners are treated to a banger of swing and toe-tapping rock.
Turning to other elements of the mix, MINA’s bass carves out a rich, resonant groove that anchors the entire track. Furthermore, driving the tempo forward, MIZUKI’s drums deliver a powerful presence without ever overshadowing the vibe. Finally, and most importantly, the strings from Ayasa’s violin hover over the piece like a harmony from a second vocalist. All in all, it’s a standout number for the band, much like their other songs, This Moment and Shooting Star.
Made For TV
In Japan, songs like this one by East Of Eden are often a prominent feature in television dramas. This paves the way for gaining significant popularity and contributing to a show’s cultural impact. By contrast, in Western entertainment, especially in recent years, the practice of releasing theme songs as chart-topping singles for TV shows and dramas has become less common.

While there have been notable successes in the past, such as Seal’s Kiss From A Rose from Batman Forever. Contemporary drama and streaming series in the West typically limit their musical selections to brief cues, often restricted to the title sequence or background. This shift means fewer opportunities for new music to become an integral part of a show’s identity. Mostly, this stands in contrast to Japan’s enduring approach to music. Another example of let down, the recent soundtrack contribution by Nine Inch Nails to the film TRON: Ares, fits more as an atmospheric addition than a mainstream feature.
Thankfully, Japan and its many talented musicians are dedicated to crafting songs that strike the right note. This was particularly evident in the soundtrack for Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle, featuring a song by LiSA. In that anime, it showcased music craftsmanship on par with Hollywood’s finest. For now, it’s best to savor the captivating sound of Our Fate and look forward to what East Of Eden has in store next.
