Heat Wave Nearly Knocks Out J-pop Singer LiSA In NYC

On the second night with Japanese pop-rock sensation LiSA at her Another Great Day performance on June 19, 2025, the show took an unexpected turn. During the concert at Terminal 5 in New York City, the singer unexpectedly rushed offstage near the end of the main setlist. In the audience, many were left wondering if she would return for an encore. Worries mounted as the Big Apple faced an unprecedented heat wave on the day.

As anyone who’s been to a concert knows, there is usually a pause between the main setlist and an encore. Typically, during this break, the artist resets and recharges, while the audience gets hyped for a few more hits from their beloved headliner. Yet, after LiSA finished ADAMAS, she remained backstage for nearly an hour! Fans who attended both nights knew from the previous show that another song was to follow. At one point, it seemed as if the show would end without an encore. And definitely not from a lack of audience enthusiasm, with cheers of “One more song!” raging. So, what happened?

Sweating It Out

No official explanation was provided for LiSA’s unusually long absence from the stage, leading to widespread speculation among concertgoers. During the break, the venue announced technical difficulties; however, some fans reported seeing EMS personnel backstage. Others noticed the oppressive heat emanating from the stage area. Finally, the band came out and began to jam for the encore, then LiSA appeared as they got amped up. The crowd went wild, though there was a palpable sense of relief—our queen was OK. Observant fans noticed that her hair looked as if it had been wet and quickly dried. Also, she had changed into noticeably looser, more casual street clothes. Fortunately, the concert ended on a high note, with the last two songs played superbly as the crowd cheered with excitement.

Thankfully, the rest of the LiSA Another Great Day headline shows across North America went well with no reports of complications. It is most certainly a challenge for any performer to venture across the world and deliver their art live, in person. For LiSA, this must have been a harrowing success on her first headline tour in North America. She last performed in America at Anime Expo over a decade ago. Hopefully, fans will not have to wait as long to see her again in the future!
